Kings Of Leon

A month ago, I booked a week-long trip to New York City for my 25th birthday. I just got home from that trip last night. I lived in Manhattan for five years and no matter how long I'm away, it still feels like I belong there the moment I step foot on the sidewalk. Originally I had planned to arrive the day before my birthday, January 22, and fly home back to California the day after my old roommate's birthday, January 29... but Kings Of Leon were scheduled to play a sold out show at Madison Square Garden on the 29th. I extended my trip for one day, just in case a miracle happened and I managed to get tickets somehow to see what have become one of my absolute favorite bands in the past year.

My other old roommate, Perry, came through with that miracle. She had to contact the president of Madison Square Garden. Our seats were unreal, our excitement was like we had never been to a show before! [Note: I've been to hundreds, if not a thousand, live shows in my life time.]

There's really no way to put into words how this band makes me feel when I listen to their music or when I saw them perform on Thursday night. When they played "Cold Desert" I had goosebumps over every inch of my skin and my knees shook. That song literally breaks my heart, and it was written by a broken man. Their show as a whole probably evoked every emotion out of me - from sheer joy to sadness. Kings Of Leon should be the biggest band in the world. They certainly have the talent to do it.

Watch this video to hear more about "Cold Desert" and how it was created:
